one of those days...

i hoped i would have some more cute and funny anecdotes about life in kindergarten to share from yesterday. umm...sorry but nothing funny OR cute happened. all i'm going to say about the experience is that i think all of us {the kindergarteners AND the teacher} had a rough day and really needed a nap by the end of carline. i did have coffee with a sweet friend yesterday evening which was such a blessing after the beating great experience i had in kindergarten. ;)

after coffee i stopped by walgreens to pick up some photos i had printed and all i'll say is that experience was yet another opportunity for growth {particularly in the patience department}. seriously, as i was standing in the line {waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting} i had a moment where i asked the Lord, "okay, what am i supposed to learn from my day today because i would really like to learn this lesson asap." {because the Lord usually responds to requests we make asap.} as i cranked my car chris tomlin's song, Lord i need you, was playing. {total aside: if you don't have the newest passion 2011 cd, purchase it right now. it's pretty much incredible.} all of a sudden, i got it. quietly i heard the Lord speak to my heart and remind me that whether i'm having an absolutely fabulous day or an absolutely awful day, i need Him...every hour...every moment. i am not made to stand on my own but to fully rely and depend on the Lord. i can't do life on my own and when i try, i fall {way} short. i am thankful for His grace and mercy that gently guides me back to where i should be...totally and completely relying on Him. {and did you notice that the Lord pretty much answered my prayer asap?? praise Him for that!}

Lord, i need you, oh i need you every hour i need you. my one defense, my righteousness oh God how i need you.

random thoughts from the weekend

we've had a great, relaxing weekend and it has been glorious. no real plans, no to-do lists {except for mowing the yard and planting pansies}, just an easy going, fun weekend. by the way, i can. not. believe. that it's april! yikes...where is the year going? {and where is spring time?? it's supposed to be 88 degrees here tomorrow. double yikes.} it sounds like such a cliche but time certainly is flying by! now, on to random thoughts from the weekend...

  • we {hubs and i} are adults but we both love a good disney movie. i guess you could say we're still kids at heart. we both wanted to see tangled but didn't make it to see it in the theater. it released this week and we waited all week until we had free time to watch it on thursday night. oh my. we loved, loved, loved it!

  • anna, my niece and our family's own little soccer girl had a game friday night and they won! after a few seasons playing with teams who have struggled some, it's fun for her to get to play for {and for us to watch} a winning team. i really get into the games, though, and my brother-in-law is very a little concerned about my ability to be a good sport ;). what can i say...i'm passionate about competition.

  • bff marissa came over yesterday and she spoke my starbucks love language by bringing a non-fat latte and {surprise!} their new cake pops which are oh so yummy and just enough sweetness. we did talk about her upcoming move to lima, peru and i did indeed cry my eyes out only a few tears were shed ;). i am super excited for her {for real} and am blessed to have a front row seat to see how the Lord is working in her life.

  • the pollen? it is absolutely killing us. hubs and i are downing claritin like it's our job. this is the one and only thing i dislike about spring time. and i'm not exaggerating when i say i seriously dislike the pollen.

  • our pastor started a new series this morning, close doesn't count. this morning's sermon was really good...it made me really evaluate my heart {am i just driven or am i devoted to Christ; am i just present as a believer or am i passionate about my relationship with Christ; does my guilt lead me to repentance or destruction} i'm looking forward to the next two weeks leading up to easter.

  • i'm subbing in a kindergarten class tomorrow {again...i subbed in this same class on thursday} and i'm really looking forward to it. they were quite an entertaining little class on thursday and there was never a dull moment, that's for sure. i think my favorite moment happened when one little precocious kindergarten boy {who was very upset when he found out they had homework over the weekend...they weren't in school friday} informed me, "mrs. alley, you know, you can control how much homework you put in our take home folders." to which i replied, "your homework is already in your folder. go sit down." ha! i was laughing on the inside.
now, i'm off to enjoy the last few hours of the weekend with hubs and try to decide what to wear to work tomorrow. {did i mention it's going to be 88 degrees??} sheesh.
